Reincarnated almost exactly like before

Reissue of the signature pedal for Johnny and Conny. Guitar players of legendary Swedish cult band bob hund

Based on Johnny and Conny's vintage Maestro Fuzz-Tone pedals with graphic design by long-time bob hund associate, the equally legendary Martin Kann

The original edition of the Fzzxkrrrxzt! was a limited edition of one hundred pedals released in 2022, which sold out in less than 24 hours. Clearly, I had underestimated the demand for a bob hund pedal, and today the original pedals change hands for up to 1000 Euros at the used gear market.

Due to persistent demand over the years, the pedal is now reincarnated exactly as before, except it is painted in the iconic blue and beige bob hund logo colour scheme. Electronically, it is 1:1 identical to the first version. Built using the same parts and circuit board, and still handmade in the European Union (enclosures in Denmark and electronics assembly in Bulgaria).

The pedals are being built now (since March 2026) and we expect them to be ready for shipment in June or July.

You can preorder a pedal from Friday morning April 17th at 08:00.

Here's bob hund having fun with the original, final prototype in 2022 (Facebook video):

This is a clip from the video feedback I got from Conny and Johnny in November 2021, expressing their desire for the pedal to feature the 'dying sound' of the very first prototype (which I thought was useless), in addition to the sounds of their original vintage Maestro pedals (which was succesfully recreated in the second prototype):

Watch my friend Fzat's demo of the second prototype here. Recorded the day before I shipped it on to bob hund, back in October 2021. This version did not feature 'the dying sound':

bob hund Fzzxkrrrxzt! features and specifications

  • Meticulously researched recreation of the sounds of bob hund's two vintage Maestro Fuzz-Tone pedals
  • Johnny side is a very accurate recreation of the sound and response of bob hund's vintage FZ-1A pedal, made with modern silicon transistors (the vintage original pedal is a germanium fuzz)
  • Custom bob hund 'dying sound' option for the Johnny side to be mixed with the vintage-identical effect (adjustable and switchable inside the pedal)
  • Conny side is a very accurate recreation of bob hund's vintage FZ-1S pedal based on actual inspection and measuring of the parts in the band's pedal.
  • Internal 'djup' (deep) switch to extend the low frequency range of the FZ-1A effect. This makes the sound much richer and 'fuller' than the orignal vintage effect
  • Extremely high build quality. Assembled by hand in the European Union. The pedal features a hybrid SMD construction, where some parts are hand soldered 'trough hole' in the traditional way, and some of the passive parts are surface mount (resistors and small capacitors)
  • Output buffers added to the vintage based circuits for a high quality output signal
  • Mechanical true bypass (no buffered bypass)
  • Analog circuits with low power consumption
  • Powder coat painted enclosure with silk screen printed graphics, designed by Martin Kann
  • High quality Neutrik jacks
  • Alpha brand upgrade quality foot switches (good for at least 30000 stomps)
  • Compact footprint: 11,9 x 9,4 cm (standard Hammond 1590BB size)
  • Runs on a standard ’Boss-style’ 9V DC guitar pedal power supply or a 9V battery. The pedal accepts 9-18V, but no real advantage of running it higher than 9V
  • Advanced Reuss-designed power supply noise filtering circuit, making the pedal tolerate most power supplies, even the cheap ones, without the risk of inducing unwanted noises (an inherent issue with vintage fuzz circuits and other vintage effects build with discrete parts)
  • 24 months warranty against manufacturing faults
  • Packed in a cardboard box and cotton draw-string bag
  • Worldwide shipping from Denmark. Orders posted before 2:00 PM Central European Time on weekdays ships same day

Product safety: Specific safety instructions for the product can be found in the instruction manual

The Johnny channel of the Fzzxkrrrxzt! is based on bob hund's vintage early 1960s Maestro FZ-1A Fuzz-Tone, which is a germanium transistor fuzz.
We had both bob hund's original vintage pedals in the lab where they were meticulously analyzed by my electronics enginnering partner, so that we could recreate their sounds in detail.
For the FZ-1A we managed to design a silicon transistor based circuit which exactly nails the sound and repsonse of the vintage germanium FZ-1A Fuzz-Tone - which took a lot of hard work.
For the Conny channel it was easier, because it is originally designed as a silicon fuzz, and the challenge with that was merely to recreated the impact the 40+ year long aging and drifting of the parts has to the sound.
