The Chris Brokaw Recidivist pedal is finally happening

I think it's been seven years since I built the first 'Recidivist' prototype pedal for my old friend Chris Brokaw. Since then we have visited the idea of a Reuss Chris Brokaw signature pedal quite a few times, and now it's finally a reality.

In early February 2021 the first pedals of a limited edition of a total of 50 pieces starts shipping.

Watch out for a pre-ordering option opening here at the webshop around New Year's.

The Recidivist pedal is named after one of my favourite Come songs, and it's based on Chris' secret weapon through all the years, the vintage 1980s Tokai TOD-1 Overdrive pedal (like the Reuss Backslide Overdrive).

In the Recidivist the overdrive is paired with an independent  EQ/BOOST circuit in a two-in-one pedal. The EQ/BOOST circuit is a Reuss original designed by my new Danish electronics engineer partner Hans. It's basically a Baxandall tone control circuit paired with a great sounding clean boost. It stacks amazingly well with the overdrive and pours gold sounds over your clean tone too.

For those not familiar with Chris Brokaw, he is an American guitar player (and drummer) who first rose to fame in the early 90s as the drummer of Codeine and guitar player of Come. Since then he has appeared in countless collaborations with musicians from Tortoise, Bedhead, Mission of Burma and many more. Chris has also served as guitar player in The Lemonheads and in Thurston Moore and J Mascis solo projects.

I have been friends with Chris since 1995 when he mixed the second album of my old band The Naked here in Copenhagen. In 1997 (or was it 1998?) The Naked toured Scandinavia and Germany as support act on Come's Gently Down The Stream tour.
